ReadyNAS 3100 Has Redundant Power Supplies

One of the features of the Netgear ReadyNAS 3100 that I like the best is the redundant power supplies. Ideally, I like all of my NAS servers, or any network storage device, to have two power supplies so that I can plug each one into a different UPS.

UPS's can and do fail. Even a hot swappable battery in a UPS does not mean that it will not go down during the maintenance.

In fact, APC has told me to "run down" the new battery until the unit shuts off in order to recalibrate it. So you have to put a load on the UPS that won't hurt anything when the power gets shut off, and suffer down time?

The only answer for high reliability for my network storage servers has been redundant power supplies and separate power sources in addition to supplies.
